Barry covers what you need to know about Gentiles (viewpoint from Scripture and from perspective of the Jewish Community), the Message (hint- it is found in the "Old" Testament, too), what you should know about Jewish people, and finally, how to deal with issues that come up what you try to share Jesus. Especially helpful are his chapters on having discernment about the questions you get from your Jewish friend, and three chapters of questions and answers regarding - historical objections, doctrinal objections and personal objections Jewish people have to belief in Jesus as Messiah, Saviour and Lord. Would I? Would You? editors = Henry & Marie Einspruch, 1970, Paperback - 93 pages A great collection of testimonies of Jewish people who decided to follow Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah, Saviour and Lord. You will probably weep, as I did as you read of Caroline Jonas, a Jewish young woman saved from despair and suicide by reading the first words of the New Testament, "Jesus, the son of David, the Son of Abraham." Find powerful stories of rabbis who found Jesus (one of whom became the first Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem), of a Jewish doctor who believed, and other Jewish people who heard and believed the Good News of Jesus, one of whom is responsible for the foundational translation of the Bible into Mandarin Chinese. Also included is Isaiah 53, the Good News of Jesus found in the Jewish Scriptures, in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. A Jewish Bishop in Jerusalem author = Kelvin Crombe, 2006, Paperback - 262 pages, indexed Amazing story of a Jew, born in Germany into a very religious Jewish family. A Christian preacher seeks him out for Hebrew lessons. Together they study Psalm 22 (describes the crucifixion of Jesus) and Isaiah 53 (how Messiah would suffer and die for the sins of the Jewish people). Read of one miraculous turn after another from East European Jewish enclave, to first leader of the Anglican Church in Jerusalem, with many twists and turns in the Way of the Master in between. Written by an Australian who lived in Israel for 22 years, and who has served in leading positions in CMJ (Church's Ministry among Jewish people). |
